Short Sea is not only a sustainable choice, but also a smart logistics solution. It offers several advantages that make your transport more efficient and sustainable:
- Liner services: With many liner services, you can check the sailing schedules to accurately estimate the transport time. You can choose FCL (Full Container Load) to use a full container or LCL (Less than Container Load) to ship smaller loads.
- Reduced transport costs: Barges consume less energy per unit transported, but can carry a large capacity. This reduces transport costs.
- Multi-modal: Sea freight transport can be combined with road and rail. That way your transport is arranged as efficiently as possible.
- Eco-friendly: By using waterways, sea freight transport reduces CO2 emissions, making it a sustainable alternative to road transport.

Customs clearance
A thorough knowledge of international legislation and customs clearance is very important in global sea freight transport. With regard to customs clearance, we offer two options at GD-iTS Group:
- Clearance: The containers are cleared directly with us on arrival at the port.
- Bonded: Under customs supervision, the containers are transported without the necessary taxes on the goods having already been paid. This is possible thanks to our own bonded warehouse, which means that we can offer our customers the benefits of a bonded warehouse directly within our own warehouses.
Our AEO certification also ensures smooth and safe handling of customs formalities.
